SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINE. PLACE OF THE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD RANKING

Abstract
Social and economic development of Ukraine during the period of independence is briefly considered. The coun-try’s position in the world rankings has been studied: Index of Economic Freedom, Human Development Index and Global Competitiveness Index. Some components of indices are analyzed; a conclusion about the state of the institu-tional environment that restrains the economic growth and modernization of the national economy was made.
