Social existence as a subject matter of sociological analysis
Journal Title: Соціологія: теорія, методи, маркетинг - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue 4
Abstract
The category of social existence and its status as the main research subject of existential sociology are considered. Social existence is defined as the concrete coexistence that is given in the direct synchronous experience of individual and collective subjects. The fundamental characteristics of coexistence include time and space (chronotope), transsubjectivity and relatedness, the integration of physical, biotic, psychic and social dimensions of reality. The correlation of abstract and concrete aspects of social experience, the problem of social discreteness, and the concept of existential as a property of collective experience are analyzed. The thematics of diffuse ontology, existential distance, sensory and mnemonic grounds of social existence are revealed. Perspectives for the further studies of the ontological problematics of existential sociology as an integrated paradigm are outlined.
