SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS IN A VULNERABLE COMMUNITY
Journal Title: MANAGERIAL CHALLENGES OF THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
Projects are the mechanisms used to solve problems within economic organizations, NGOs, but also at national, local and communities’ level. The current article presents a case- study on how projects were used for almost twenty years to improve the situation of the Pata-Rât Roma community. A historical review of identified projects is presented. The existence of this community, formed near the city garbage dump, is itself a problem. The projects implemented for solving or diminishing the problem can be analyzed in relation to the period of implementation. The projects implemented before 2012 were low financed and based on small NGOs activities. Their objectives were diverse and sometimes overlapping. Starting 2012 larger projects which consider integrated solutions were also implemented. For future projects the latter approach should be considered.
