Social Media as an E–Recruitment Tool for Different Generations: Methodological Considerations and Pilot Study
Journal Title: Zarządzanie Zasobami Ludzkimi - Year 2016, Vol 113, Issue 6
Abstract
E–recruitment with the use of social media is a widely utilized group of methods of recruitment. It is especially suitable in the case of candidates of the younger generations. At the same time, research on generational differences leads to unequivocal results. The article analyzes the definition of generations and proposes two methodological approaches (the typical member approach and important event approach), which could improve the operationalization of the concept of generations for questionnaire research. The methodological analysis is illustrated by a pilot study on the usage of different sources of information as well as validating the truthfulness of three groups—generations X, Y, and Z. The results show that only generation Z members are easily influenced by information on social media as they use them often and treat them as being valid.
