Some Notes on the Logistic Distribution[sup][/sup]
Journal Title: Journal of Applied Quantitative Methods - Year 2008, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
In this paper we study some properties of the density function f (x;θ ) =θ ⋅ e[sup]−x[/sup] (1+ e[sup]−x[/sup] )−[sup](θ +1)[/sup] , x ∈ R,θ > 0 which may be obtained from the distribution of the last order statistic from a reduced logistic population F(x) =1/(1+ e[sup]−x[/sup] ), x∈R . Its truncated variant is also discussed. The point and interval estimations for θ are provided also. The so-called (P, γ) - type statistical tolerances are constructed and a comment on the hazard rate is done also. The last paragraph is devoted to testing procedures on the parameter involved.

Minimization, Constraints and Composite Bezier Surfaces
This paper presents a global method for approximation and/or construction of surfaces using constraints. The method is based on a min max problem which describes approximation and differential geometric characteristics,...
MEASURING RISK PROFILE WITH A MULTIDIMENSIONAL RASCH ANALYSIS
In this paper we propose an evaluation of investors’ risk profiles such as to meet the minimal requirements that Italian financial institutions must satisfy by law (d. lgs. 164, 2007). Thus we investigate all aspects spe...
SAFETY AT WORK IN EUROPE: AN EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS
Nowadays workplace accidents are more and more recognised as a social problem that has undesirable consequences on both human and organisations. As a result, there has been increasing concern in improving working conditi...
Reliability Sampling Plans: A Review and some New Results
In this work we present a large area of aspects related to the problem of sampling inspection in the case of reliability. First we discuss the actual status of this domain, mentioning the newest approaches (from a techni...
USING STRUCTURAL EQUATION AND ITEM RESPONSE MODELS TO ASSESS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LATENT TRAITS
We deepen the two main approaches to the problem of measurement error in social sciences, the Structural Equation Models (SEM) and the Item Response Theory Models (IRM), comparing two different estimation procedures. The...
