СONTENT AND TECHNOLOGY OF TEACHING HISTORY IN GALICIAN FOLK SCHOOLS AND GYMNASIUMS FROM THE 50’S OF THE ХІХ CENTURY TO THE FIRST THIRD OF THE ХХ CENTURY

Abstract
This article considers the content and technology of teaching history of the native land in the national schools and gymnasiums in Galicia in the period from the 1850’s to 1939. It reveals the content, forms and methods of teaching history in those schools of different types, analyzes the curricula and manuals that were issued by the Ministry of education and religion, fi rst in Austria-Hungary and later in Poland. The article also covers the period of establishment, combat and development of the methodology of history teaching in Galician folk schools as well as in secondary schools that were classifi ed as gymnasiums during the mentioned period and explains how signifi cant is the heritage of the Ukrainian teachers and methodologists of this region and their contribution to the development of the Ukrainian science.
