Special Economic Zones’ activity in the context of national aid and regional policy in European Union

Journal Title: Zarządzanie i Finanse - Year 2013, Vol 11, Issue 1

Abstract

The subject of this article is the analysis of current activities of Special Economic Zones in Poland and the evaluation of their existence after 2020. Eighteen years have already passed since the establishment of Special Economic Zones in Poland. The popularity of the SEZs is based on the simplicity and effectiveness of the tax exemption for businesses. That is one of the most important factors stimulating regional and national economical growth. The further existence of SEZs after 2020 should not raise any doubts in the context of the European Commission’s activity, as the SEZs still fit into the framework of the regional policy. Both two aspects are arguments explaining the sense of SEZs after 2020.
