SPEECH GENRE ARGUMENT IN THE CHARACTERS’ DIALOGICAL SPEECH IN THE NARRATIVE TEXTS BY I. NECHUY-LEVITSKIY

Abstract
The purpose of the article is to study the specifics of the speech genre argument in the characters’ dialogical speech. The object of analysis were dialogical texts of the characters. The subject of the investigation was the comprehensive speech genre argument as a specific genre of the characters’ dialogical speech in the narrative texts by I. Nechuy-Levitskiy. The results of the study consist in the following: 1) the speech genre argument includes such elementary speech genres as: argumentation, questions, negative response, statement of facts, intentions, order, request, refusal, advice, ridicule, accusations, grievance. Selecting a specific elementary speech genre depends on the purpose, strategies and tactics of communication. The result of the argument depends on this (a cooperative or conflictual dialogue); 2) the communicative purpose of the speech genre is for each communicant to defend his own position during the entire process of communication; 3) the communicative tone is negative; 4) there is a violation of rules of the literary language; 5) the characters use pejorative vocabulary in their speech. The main research method was description which helped analyse the specific features of the speech genre argument. There was also employed the method of component analysis for describing the semantics of lexical resources in the speech of the characters. Conclusions: The characteristic feature of the speech genre argument is that communicants think differently, formulate their thoughts about the common topic of communication. Such communication can result either in a conflictual or in a positive dialogue.
