Standard Rifle of the MSBS-5.56K Small Arm System as the Main Polish Future Soldier Weapon (Part I)
Journal Title: Problemy Mechatroniki. Uzbrojenie, lotnictwo, inżynieria bezpieczeństwa - Year 2014, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
The prototype of 5.56 mm Assault Rifle in classic layout, which creates the backbone of 5.56 Modular Weapon System (MSBS-5.56) designed in both classic (MSBS-5.56K) and bull-pup (MSBS-5.56B) layout is precisely described in this paper. Because MSBS-5.56K Assault Rifle is the first Polish original weapon chambered to 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridge, dedicated to the Polish Future Soldier, this paper is focused on innovative solutions in its design and technology area, aimed at high reliability, safety, and comfortable operation. Due to a large volume, the paper was divided into two parts. In the first, short development story of MSBS-5.56K Assault Rifle, its role in the whole weapon system, weapon technical specifications, construction of main assamblies, parts cooperation and perspectives of project are presented. In the second one, detailed description of rifle parts, assemblies, and mechaisms will be presented.
