Standardization of clinical test data and common reference intervals
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2011, Vol 34, Issue 3
Abstract
Currently, there is some between-laboratory variability in the clinical chemistry field. However, some items exhibit differences because of reagents, methods, and analyzers. I analyzed between-laboratory variability using the external quality assessment surveillance conducted by the Japanese Association of Medical Technologists. Serum albumin and calcium showed difference because of reagents. To preserve general clinical values, we have to monitor and maintain our laboratory's accuracy. In addition, we must use only standardized reagents and methods.

Lipophorin: lipid-transfer protein in insect blood
Lipophorin is one of the major lipoproteins in insect blood. It contributes to the transportation of several lipid classes. Its particle weight is about 600 k with two apolipoproteins, apoLp-Ⅰ and -Ⅱ (MW=250 k and 80 k,...
Blood clotting time tests using an automated coagulation analyzer−ACL TOP series, STACIA−
The hemostatic mechanism is very important for achieving a vital self-defense. The blood-clotting-time is the test to examine coagulation reaction, including both the extrinsic and intrinsic coagulation systems, whether...
Reaction between cationic detergent and Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250: application to urinalysis
In the qualitative test for urine protein by a test strip, a false-positive reaction due to a cationic detergent is well known. A method which can discriminate a false-positive reaction was studied, using CBB G-250 reage...
Whole blood concentration of thiamine diphosphate requires correction for red blood cell count in the nutritional assessment of thiamine status
This study examined whether the whole blood (WB) concentration of thiamine diphosphate (TDP) needed to be corrected for hemoglobin concentration (Hb) or red blood cell (RBC) count. TDP levels in whole blood (WB TDP) and...
