Journal Title: REVIEW OF GENERAL MANAGEMENT - Year 2010, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
Abstract: For many years now, the development intervention in the Niger Delta has not achieved desired results, as the amazing paradox of nderdevelopment in the area continue to deepen. That is why the paper explains the mistakes made by the different commissions and proposes the adaptation of an alternative approach, suggesting the set up of an Oil Producing Communities Commission by the Federal Government of Nigeria, having a clear mandate. The paper argues that the new ideas will accelerate the development of the region. The success of this is given by the transparency and accountability in governance at all levels.
