STATE SUPPORT FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS IN UKRAINE

Abstract
The article highlights the main directions of state support for small and medium-sized businesses and the functions of the state as a supporter of business development, which consists in providing not only financial but also information support, creation and maintenance of institutional support and infrastructure. The reasons of ineffective activity of the enterprises, connected with the unbalanced state policy and the lack of protection from the state are also considered. The current directions of support of small and medium-sized businesses, including those taking into account European programs, are described. State support for small and medium-sized businesses today can be considered insufficiently effective, as evidenced by a number of examples and the consequences of ill-considered decisions of the authorities, which, with the aim of stabilizing the economy in the state, have a tangible impact on the activities of small businesses and endanger the existence of a significant part of it.
