STATISTICAL DISTRIBUTIONS FOR PROBABILISTIC SEISMIC HAZARD ANALYSIS
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2012, Vol 57, Issue 1
Abstract
The study of statistical distributions in the context of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) provides a convenient support for understanding and application of PSHA specific procedures. This approach also provides a useful insight on relevant aspects of probability theory with application to seismic hazard. The geometric, exponential, binomial and Poisson distributions along with their proofs are introduced within the seismic hazard framework. These distributions represent the main tools for handling probabilistic hazard data as they are essential for assessing the probability of exceedance of the hazard parameter within a certain exposure period of structural system.

CONSIDERATIONS ON ACTIVE REDUCTION NOISE, TREATMENT AND CONTROL DESIGN PERFORMANCE AT DIESEL GENERATOR
This paper discusses the methodology and results of a noise audit and active control testing on a portable single-cylinder diesel generator. Using a large microphone array, a spectral intensity map of all external surfac...
BRANCHED SYSTEMS WITH NONLINEAR KINEMATICS – COMPUTER-AIDED ANALYSIS & DESIGN
This paper presents a computer-aided modeling way of the branched systems with nonlinear kinematics that make possible the design and the analysis, as well. Being very complex systems, the elasto-dynamic study of the rea...
