STATUS OF MULTIPLE EMBRYOS AND CHILD BORN OF ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUES: NEED FOR REFORMATIONS IN LAW

Abstract
With the development of science and technology, human reproduction has reached new dimensions and whatever one could not even think of five years back; has now become possible. Moreover, the concept of assisted reproduction has been commercialized in India as Indian government has issued guideline to regulate and for the accreditation of the Assisted Reproductive Techniques. Thus, law has to be revamped to keep pace with the dynamically changing society and to be compatible with the new horizons of societal norms. The Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill in India only provides for surrogacy arrangement, but however it has become indispensable that other assisted reproductive techniques should be also taken into consideration and provisions in such regard should be made in the Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill. The notion of multiple embryos in assisted reproductive techniques has though not legally considered being wrong, but is infringing the ethical conundrums of society, which in turn also needs to recognition. Therefore, efforts should be made Indian Parliament to bring out some rules, regulations, policies or even some comprehensive legislation with regard to all the techniques covered under assisted reproduction.
