Stereotypes of perception of city by the Ukrainian peasantry (end of 1910th – 1920th)

Abstract

In the article the question is that considerable attention is given in Ukrainian historiography to the study of history of the Ukrainian village and city of end of 1910-1920th, but researchers, usually, examine community development of city and village separately. A general picture that would light up reasons of contradictions between a city and village failing, would classify their displays, would explain the origin of stereotypes of perception of city (withstand attitude toward a city and his habitants, mineout on the basis of comparing of them to the internal ideals) the Ukrainian peasantry. An author marks that contradictions between the Ukrainian village existed centuries. It is found out a researcher, that for the Ukrainian peasant a city was something unattainable and cherished in dreams, but also suspicious and distant. With beginning of revolution, by arrival of bolshevist power the stereotypes of perception of city deepen the Ukrainian peasants. It is assisted: the legally envisaged orientation of communist power on proletarians and more privileged status of workers; suspicious or hostile relation of representatives of nomenclature in relation to the transmitters of Ukrainian identity, in particular, peasants; transformation of the Ukrainian village is on the role of raw material appendage. An author found out that peasants expound dissatisfaction a city and workers in conversations inter se and with public agents. The stereotypes of perception of city peasants are marked on Ukrainian literature and folklore of 1920th.
