Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to analyse the Russian substandard nominative unit стерва referred to the lexico-semantic field of ‘woman’. In the light of the presented discussion, based on contemporary printed and electronic texts, it can be said that the lexeme стерва has achieved new positive conceptualizations in the area of Russian mass communication. The analysed phenome- non may be considered as an evidence of social changes.
