Story of a Core Curriculum – Foundations Development Program

Abstract
With its unique design and applications, the Foundations Development Program, which is also the core curriculum of Sabancı University has made it possible for students to determine their diploma programs at the end of their second year for the first time in Turkey. This article covers the establishment, the goals and the structure of the program and evaluates its success and the hardship faced since the acceptance of the first students in 1999. In evaluation of success, the learning outcomes of the program courses and the students' conscious choices of diploma programs are taken into account.
