Strategic management as an instrument for effective business development

Abstract
In the article the importance of strategic management as an implement for effective development of business entities has been determined. The author reveals the economic essence of strategic management and systematizes the stages of its formation. A comparative analysis of American and European concepts of strategic management has been completed. The modern practice of introducing the elements of strategic management among the national enterprises has been considered. The main problems of applying the implements of strategic management in Ukraine have been identified.
