Structural and semantic features of anthroponyms in the novel of E. Polizhiy «Ilovaisk»

Abstract

The article analyzes the anthroponimicon of the novel of E. Polozhiy «Ilovajsk», devoted to the events that took place in August-September 2014 during the Ukrainian-Russian war in eastern Ukraine. The structure of anthroponyms is elucidated, the factors that played a role in choosing the names of characters are outlined. The urgency of our study is due to the increased attention of modern linguistics to the problems of onomapoetics, as well as the perspectives of research on contemporary works devoted to the events of the newest history of Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of anthroponyms, which function in the novel of E. Polozhiy «Ilovajsk». The realization of the set goal presupposes solving the following tasks: selecting all the anthroponoms in the novel; describing functional features of anthroponyms in connection with lexical-semantic, grammatical factors of text structures. The object of the study is the onomasticon of the novel by Eugene Polozhiy «Ilovajsk». The subject of research are anthroponomisms of the novel of E. Polozhiy «Ilovajsk». The purpose and the material of the work led to the use of such research methods: the method of system analysis enabled the study and grouping of relevant theoretical material on the basic principles of literary and artistic onomastics, the functioning and expressive loading of proper names; the use of descriptive method has allowed to identify, systematize and analyze the own names of the novel. As a result of the research, it was found that the bulk of the naming of actors performing the nominative function are names and surnames, as well as numerous call signs. The novel also presents characteristic anthroponyms that can indicate the national or regional affiliation of a denotate, their social status, marital status, age, express certain features of their character or appearance, express emotional attitude to the named character, and also participate in the creation of time-spatial background of the work.
