STRUCTURAL CLASSIFICATION OF PERFUMONYMS

Abstract
The article dwells on the establishment of structural characteristics of proper names denoting names of perfumes- perfumonyms. Their structural types and subtypes were distinguished. The aim of the research is a systematic description of perfumonyms according to their structural character and establishing principles of the structural organization of perfumonyms. The object of the research is proper names of perfumes; the subject of the study is their structural classification. One hundred English proper names of perfumes collected from the mass media serve as the material of the research. The study allowed to highlight certain structural features of proper names denoting perfumes. The results showed that simple non-affixed perfumonyms prevail, due to the analytical nature of the English language. Other structural types of perfumonyms are far less numerous. The reasons are, on the one hand, the nature of English, and, on the other hand, the purpose of creating attractive and bright images.
