Structural Renovation Design Study for Shanghai Rail Transit Line 3/4 Joint-rail Project at Baoshan Road Station

Journal Title: Urban Mass Transit - Year 2024, Vol 27, Issue 1

Abstract

[Objective] To enhance train throughput capacity and reduce safety risk at Baoshan Road Station in Shanghai rail transit, a track joint-rail renovation is necessary, requiring concurrent reinforcement of station structure. Thus the key issues in station structure renovation and design, countermeasures, and control on operational impact are sorted. [Method] The overview of Baoshan Road Station renovation project is presented, outlining design principles and confirming the design methodology. A code-exceeding structural performance design is conducted to validate the seismic resistance after reinforcement, and the tailored adaptive reinforcement plan for Baoshan Road Station structure is proposed, addressing critical challenges encountered during the design process along with their solutions. To ensure normal station operation during construction period, a phased construction organization plan is introduced. [Result & Conclusion] The renovated Baoshan Road Station meets the requirements of additional tracks. Through structural reinforcement, the station seismic resistance can meet requirements of current regulations. Phased station structure engineering can effectively lower various impacts on station operation.
