Structure and features of basketball players’ mental states

Abstract
The article considers with the structure of mental states based on the three-component approach, generally accepted in the psychology of sport, which takes into account the characteristics of the competitive activity of basketball players and characterizes those basic aspects of states that determine the effectiveness of their activities. Also considered are the features of the basketball players’ mental state dynamics, which determine the effectiveness of the activity, based on the mental tension as one of the key aspects of the mental state. The components of the mental state and their indicators are considered from the position of nonlinearity, where to each of the considered indicators there are certain limits of the optimum, and also extreme poles of manifestation. Also features of basketball players’ mental states which have been allocated on the basis specificity of basketball are opened.
