Study & Testing Of Bio-Composite Material Based On Munja Fibre

Journal Title: International Journal of Modern Engineering Research (IJMER) - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 4

Abstract

The incorporation of natural fibres such as munja fiber composites has gained increasing applications both in many areas of Engineering and Technology. The aim of this study is to evaluate mechanical properties such as flexural and tensile properties of reinforced epoxy composites. This is mainly due to their applicable benefits as they are light weight and offer low cost compared to synthetic fibre composites. Munja fibres recently have been a substitute material in many weight-critical applications in areas such as aerospace, automotive and other high demanding industrial sectors. In this study, natural munja fibre composites and munja/fibreglass hybrid composites were fabricated by a combination of hand lay-up and cold-press methods. A new variety in munja fibre is the present work the main aim of the work is to extract the neat fibre and is characterized for its flexural characteristics. The composites are fabricated by reinforcing untreated and treated fibre and are tested for their mechanical, properties strictly as per ASTM procedures.
