Study of Confinement Loss of Various Combinations of Square Shaped Cells of Hexagonal Lattice of Photonic Crystal Fiber
Journal Title: International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Technology - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
In this paper a systematic and comprehensive analysis of photonic crystal fibers with a general Hexagonal lattice and square shaped cells is being done. Square shaped cells exhibit comparative less confinement loss. Study & Comparison of the endlessly single-mode, refractive index, and confinement loss properties of the fundamental mode across all lattice shapes have been done. The shape of cells has been kept as square shape so that the distribution of light among the holes can be understood. A general class of PCFs with low confinement loss has been identified and it has been shown that the total loss of the fundamental mode is the result of the competition between two opposing effects: the cladding lattice shape and the asymmetry of the core and can vanish for some PCFs with even very non symmetric lattices.
