STUDY OF CROSS-LINKED CROSSCARMELLOSE AS AN ALTERNATIVE SUPERDISINTEGRANT IN FAST DISSOLVING FORMULATION

Journal Title: WORLD JOURNAL PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 5

Abstract

The present study was aimed towards the formulation and evaluation of Fast dissolution tablets of Aspirin using Cross-linked Crosscarmellose. Fast disintegrating tablets of Aspirin was prepared using three different super disintegrants namely Sodium Starch Glycolate Cross-linked Crosscarmellose, and Non cross-linked Crosscarmellose, and with three concentrations (2%, 3% and 5%) were prepared by direct compression method. The final blend of the drug and excipients were evaluated for powder flow properties, bulk density, tapped density and compressibility index. All the formulations were evaluated for weight variation, thickness, disintegration time, hardness, friability, wetting time and water absorption ratio. Formulation F1 showed the lowest disintegration time. In vitro dissolution studies revealed that formulation F1 showed 99.96 % percent drug release at the end of 30 minutes. These results revealed that the formulation F6 containing. Cross-linked Crosscarmellose (5%) as super disintegrant was better one which satisfied all the criteria as a Fast Disintegrating tablets.
