Study Of Menstrual Hygienic Practices And Reproductive Tract Infection Among The Adolescents Girls

Abstract

Introduction:Puberty, which is considered as the time of change for the adolescents, is a challenge for young girls because of menstruation. Though it is a natural phenomenon and girls are exposed to very little knowledge about menstruation. Objective:This study conductedto know the level of knowledge, attitude and practices during menstruation and RTI among the adolescents girls. Methods and Material: A Cross Sectional Study was conducted among 200 adolescent girls. Data was collected by using a pretested, semi-structured questionnaire. Results: The study reported that majority of the girls attained menarche at the age of 13 yrs (51%), and Sanitary pads usage during menstruation was seen in (97%) andMother was the source of informationabout menstruation before menarche for most of them. Conclusion:Proper knowledge, attitude and hygienic practices inmenstruation are not seen among the study participants , for whom a suitable planned health education needed.Early awareness can prevent students from suffering from the various reproductive tract infections
