Study of Scour Geometry of Two Parallel Submerged Pipelines under the Effect of Vegetation
Journal Title: Journal of River Engineering - Year 2013, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Oil and gas pipelines generally crossing sea and river beds may be scoured by water currents. Present research aims to study the effect of vegetation around the pipelines on the scour shape; thus experiments were conducted on two pipelines in channel environment. In various experiments, situation of vegetation, position of one pipeline compared to the other one and water depth change were studied. Results of experiments showed that presence of vegetation led to higher stability of the bed.
