Study of the Relationship between Employees Empowerment and E-banking Development in Mellat Bank

Abstract

During recent years, Iran's bank system including state and private sectors have made considerable attempt to empower bank employees in electronic banking field. Along with this system, Mellat Bank has taken significant steps to increase its employees’ potentials in order to develop ebanking. This study deals with the relation of employees’ empowerment with e-banking development in Mellat Bank. Here, we consider the relation of some parameters like personal effectiveness, option, personal competency, and work meaningfulness with e-banking development. Our study is an application-oriented, descriptive, and measuring study in which we make use of data collection method. Also in this research we have used questionnaires with Likert scale in order to collect data, while data analysis has been done by SPSS and Lisrel software. Results demonstrate that four parameters of personal effectiveness, option, personal competency and work meaningfulness are in direct relation with e-banking development in Mellat Bank. Therefore, identifying and training the assignments, having positive attitude while applying the abilities of employees, and personifying the employees’ work are of requirements of e-banking development in banks. Furthermore, on duty trainings, appropriate turn-over of posts, and holding seminars and conferences are necessary to provide e-banking services. It is suggested that the roles of employees to reach the objectives of an organization is completely explained for them and their work results are reported to them in a regular basis.
