Study on the effects of time, geographical side and color of wrapping materials on graft union percentage and scion growth of three commercial citrus cultivars on Mexican lime rootstock

Abstract

In order to evaluation the effects of time and geographical side of budding and color of wrapping materials, this experiment was conducted as factorial in CRD in Darab region of Fars province at Iran. Budding operation was performed by the scion of three commercial citrus cultivars consist common sweet orange, Valencia sweet orange and Kinnow mandarin on Mexican lime rootstock via T-budding in two time (25 September and 25 November) in four geographical sides consist north, south, east and west and to fasten of graft place was used nylon yarn with green, blue, red and yellow colors. Then was measured graft union percentage and growth of scion bud. Results showed that the highest graft union percentage and scion growth in common sweet orange was in time of 25 September in north side and usage red and blue color wrapping and in Valencia orange 25 September in south side and usage green and blue wrapping color. In Kinnow mandarin did not observed difference between both grafting times but graft union percentage and scion growth was highest in east side and usage of green wrapping color.
