Sugammadex in a morbidly obese patient with prolonged residual neuromuscular blockade caused by vecuronium

Journal Title: Ege Tıp Dergisi - Year 2014, Vol 53, Issue 1

Abstract

Morbid obesity is an important risk factor in anesthesia practice in addition to its adverse effects on health. Prolonged residual neuromuscular blockade which is unresponsive to cholinesterase inhibitors is frequent in morbidly obese patients. In this case report we discuss a patient with morbid obesity who had prolonged residual neuromuscular blockade and was rapidly reversed with sugammadex.
