Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 46
Abstract
The water has been one from the indispensable design elements during the historical process of humanity. Water-based rural recreation, due to the positive effects on human psychology, are much more attractive to the urban population. The aim of this study was to determine with AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) for the suitability of water-based rural recreation (ponds): a case study in Taskopru district (Kastamonu, North of Turkey). For the ponds have been identified "five" factors (criterion) in terms of recreation suitability. These factors are "physiographic suitability", "accessibility", "the shape and area of the ponds", "vegetation" and "panorama". Each factor was scored for five different ponds. The final score has been calculated collecting the points among the factors and multiplying by the weighted coefficient. Panoramic photos were taken from the lake/pond locations. It was given the scores for these photos and the factors by the ten different experts. The priority classification of the ponds has been listed as (1) Kucuksu Pond, (2) Asar Pond, (3) Kabalar Pond, (4) Sakiz Pond and (5) Karadere Lake.
