Suitability of Cheffia dam surface waters for irrigation (El Tarf area)
Journal Title: Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES) - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 6
Abstract
El Tarf area has an agricultural vocation, an activity depending on much water to meet the needs of a variety of cultures. Water intended to irrigation must exhibit physicochemical features tolerable by crops. Even under humid climate, the recourse to irrigation is inevitable for most cultures. Superficial waters are then more and more required. Ahydrochemical study focusing on major elements of Cheffia dam waters has been carried out. 24 sampling have been performed during two months (2015/2016); the study findings show that surface waters are fresh and marginally miner alized; they are marked by medium salinity, so they are of good quality for agriculture.
