SULPHUR AS A FACTOR THAT AFFECTS NITROGEN EFFECTIVENESS IN SPRING RAPESEED AGROTECHNICS. PART I. CHOSEN YIELD COMPONENTS
Journal Title: Acta Scientiarum Polonorum – Agricultura - Year 2016, Vol 15, Issue 3
Abstract
Abstract. Strict, three-year-long field experiment was performed on degraded Phaeozems, IIIb soil valuation class, with pH ranging from 6.5 to 7.1, of high richness in phosphorus and potassium, medium in magnesium, and low in sulphur. The experiment was carried out in a split-block design with two factors in four repetitions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of various doses of nitrogen (0, 60, 120, and 180 kg·ha-1) and sulphur (0, 20, and 60 kg·ha-1), taking into account their different application methods (in-soil and as foliar fertiliser), on the yield components of spring rapeseed cultivar Star. Fertilisation only with nitrogen significantly increased the values of all the studied components, while the sulphur-only fertilisation increased the number of seeds in siliques, as well as the mass of 1000 grains. The number of seeds per silique in none of the research years was significantly affected by the interaction between nitrogen and sulphur. As far as other characteristics are concerned, considering sulphur alongside nitrogen fertilisation, in general, resulted in a significant increase in their values, in comparison with the control plants.

DRY MATTER AND PROTEIN YIELD IN MIXTURES OF PEA WITH OAT GROWN FOR GREEN FORAGE
Background. Legume-cereal mixtures grown for green forage are a valuable source of high protein feed for ruminants. This paper presents the results of a study from 2009-2011 aimed at determining the effect of the proport...
MODELLING BIOMETRIC TRAITS AND STRAW YIELD OF WHITE MUSTARD (Sinapis alba L.) GROWN FOR SEEDS BY THE SOWING DATE AND METEOROLOGICAL FACTORS
Background. White mustard is a plant with good yield stability, low variability in the length of the growing season and a considerable resistance to climatic factors. However, delaying the sowing date of this plant resul...
PROTEIN COMPOSITION OF SPRING TRITICALE GRAIN IN THE CONDITIONS OF DIVERSIFIED FERTILIZATION SYSTEMS
The aim of the study was the evaluation of the effect of diversified nitrogen fertilization: in-soil, foliar, and foliar in combination with multi-component fertilizer Ekolist, on the content and composition of protein o...
EFFECT OF FERTILIZATION WITH NITROGEN AND SEED INOCULATION WITH NITRAGINA ON SEED QUALITY OF SOYA BEAN (Glycine max (L.) MERRILL)
Nitrogen fertilization of soya bean is usually limited to the starter rate. This results from the ability to plant self-supply in atmospheric nitrogen, thanks to symbiosis with nodule bacteria from the genus Bradyrhizobi...
