СУПРОТИВ НАСЕЛЕННЯ ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ ОРДЕНУ ЄЗУЇТІВ НА УКРАЇНСЬКИХ ЗЕМЛЯХ НАПРИКІНЦІ ХVІ – В ПЕРШІЙ ПОЛОВИНІ ХVІІ СТ.

Abstract
Проаналізовано супротив різних верств населення українських земель діяльності Товариства Ісуса. Наведено фактичний матеріал щодо способів протистояння єзуїтам з боку полемістів, шляхти, козаків, братств, учнів братських шкіл, міщан тощо. З’ясоване застосування як ненасильницьких способів спротиву (літературна полеміка, позови, скарги, публічні виступи, у тому числі в сеймі Речі Посполитої), так і озброєної боротьби. Зроблено висновки про переважання ненасильницьких способів спротиву до початку Національно-визвольної війни українського народу під проводом Б. Хмельницького. Based on written sources the conflict of interests between the Society of Jesus and Orthodox population of the Ukrainian lands was analyzed. The missionary activity of the Society of Jesus and its support of the Uniate Church inspired resistance of the Orthodox population in Ukraine. The resistance demonstration of the Ukrainian Orthodox population to the missionary activity of the Society of Jesus was summarized. The attitude of the Ukrainian population to the Society of Jesus shows the importance of Jesuits’ contribution to the social and political struggle and cultural sphere of life in the Ukrainian lands. The factual materials of the significant resistance that was provided by fraternities, bourgeoisies, students of Brotherhood schools are provided. It was found ways to use non-violent resistance, which contained numerous complaints, literary controversy, litigation, public presentations in particular at the Sejm of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. The polemicists maintained the most non-violent resistance to Jesuits. The ways of violent resistance of Cossack to the Society of Jesus are analyzed. They were the force that maintained the physical resistance to the Society of Jesus. The given materials indicate the predominance of non-violent methods of resistance before the beginning of the National Liberation War of the Ukrainian people headed by Bohdan Khmelnytsky. Further investigation of the problem will supplement the knowledge of the historical background of the National Liberation War of the Ukrainian people, will identify the importance of the union in the context of religious and political situation in Central and Eastern Europe, will explore the ethnic and cultural development of the population in the Ukrainian lands
