Survey of Historiography of Kyiv “St. Volodymyr” University School of Historians (1834-1866)

Abstract
The article brings to the readers' attention an overview of Ukrainian historiographical references from the second half of the nineteenth century to the first decade of the 20th century, insisting on the achievements of the main historians trained at the "St. Volodymyr "in Kiev. The historiographical approaches inspired by the works of the Ukrainian historians from the first and the second period of activity of the School of Kiev's history are presented. It is also highlighted the pedagogical and scientific character of the writings of professors Volodymyr Tsykh, Vasyl Dombrovsky, Olexius Stavrovsky, Nikolay Kostomarov, Platon Pavlov, Vitaliy Shulgin, as well as the historiographical aspects related to the life and activity of these historians.
