Symptoms Extending from Identity Confusion to Personality Pattern, Autistic Spectrum to Psychotic Spectrum Via an Adolescent Case
Journal Title: Turkish Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health - Year 2021, Vol 28, Issue 1
Abstract
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and International Classification of Diseases and Associated Health Problems classify mental disorders as discrete categories. However, we often see in our clinical practice that sharp divisions are not possible when the human spirit is concerned and it is very difficult to categorize some patients into any cluster. In this article, we aimed to discuss the diagnostic problems of categorical classification systems through an adolescent case who is diagnosed with diffrent diagnoses (autistic disorder/Asperger Syndrome, Psychotic disorder, İdentity confusion and personality disorder) at diffrent psychiatry clinics.
