SYNONYMOUS ATTITUDES IN LATIN RELIGIOUS TERMINOLOGY (BASED ON THE TEXT “THE PILGRIMAGE OF ETHERIA TO THE HOLY PLACES”)

Abstract
The article is devoted to the synonymic relation in Latin religious terminology in the anonymous work «The Pilgrimage of Etheria to the holy places» of the IV century. The work analyzes the peculiarities of the functioning of synonym terms and their classification. It is established that the main types of synonyms, which are isolated in the text, are absolute, semantic and stylistic. The research showed that majority of synonyms are absolute or doublets, what is the main problem of terminology. Particular attention is paid to the description of synonymous pairs and rows within the studied group of vocabulary.
