System for Defect Detection in Fabrics
Journal Title: Revista Romana de Interactiune Om-Calculator - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 0
Abstract
In the textile industry, for quality assurance, defect detection is a vital step. This paper presents a system for real time defect detection in fabrics which requires efficient and powerful algorithms. Based on the characteristics of the fabrics texture we use local binary patterns (LBP) to detect defects in fabric. Due to subtle defects, inspection of fabric defects is particularly difficult also because of variations in fabric texture and due to changes in environmental changes (e.g. illumination, noise, etc.). Online implementation of the algorithms showed that it can be implemented with the resources normally available and can be adapted for industrial applications.
