Systematic Significance of Palisade Ratio In Pharmacognostic Applications
Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Pharmacy and Biological Sciences (IOSR-JPBS) - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 2
Abstract
The palisade ratio is calculated for 117 taxa of tropical Acanthaceae. The mean palisade ratio values range from 1.45 to 25.0, the lowest and highest being observed in Pseuderanthemum reticulatum and Strobilanthes barbatus respectively. Palisade ratio is a reliable taxonomic character, which is constant for a taxon and it will not vary with environment. However it is more useful in delimiting the taxa at tribal and intraspecific levels than at generic and specific levels. As the same category of palisade ratio is reported in many unrelated tribes of the family, it can be used with other conservative characters in a holistic way. This criterion has reliable taxonomic and pharmacognostic applications since it goes in harmony with other conservative characters.

Quntative Expression of Cell Death by LDH Activity
We hypothesize that a universal quantitative relation exists between the number of necrotic cells in culture and LDH activity in culture media. Previously this relation was found in immortalised cell lines. We hypothesiz...
