Systemic relations of nominates in nominative sphere “WETHER” of online narrative in weather news stories (based on British online newspapers).

Abstract

The article focuses on the study of the systemic relations of nominates of nominative sphere “WEATHER” in weather news stories. The field method is applied to model and describe the structure and composition of the nominative sphere “WEATHER”. The nuclear zone is composed of units that systematically explicate nuclear seme and have more abstract semantics. The periphery represents individual, secondary features that are not part of the nucleus and develop on the basis of individual knowledge, connotations and associations. The center of this model is represented by a dominant which expresses the semantic invariance or the nucleus of the whole paradigm. Such a dominant is the lexeme “weather” which is the key word of the whole sphere of reality, objectified in the semantics of the nominates under study and forms the nucleus of the lexical and semantic field “WEATHER”. The lexical and semantic field “WEATHER” consists of the following peripheral microfields: “Weather as a phenomenon”, “Weather in human perception”, “Destructive effect of weather” which are expanded by specific semantic features “weather phenomena”, “emotional perception and behavior of people” and “consequences of unfavourable / abnormal weather ". The main components of the model of the nominative sphere “WEATHER” are the denotative (primary nomination) and the connotative (secondary nomination) components. Thus, the nominative sphere “WEATHER” is a combination of sub-spheres in the semantic space of online narrative in weather news stories, the components of which are lexical units (nominates) that used to realize meaning of the weather nomination and show the systemic relations among them in the semantic space of online narrative. The sphere of weather is an object sphere for weather news stories.
