SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC PROBLEMS OF ENTERPRISES ENGAGED IN THE POWER INDUSTRY

Abstract
The research paper deals with the economic problems of the enterprises engaged in the power industry of Ukraine using the methods of systems analysis. Based on the study of literary sources, the most urgent problems that need to be addressed are identified. The system of indicators characterizing the financial condition of enterprises is formed. On the basis of discriminatory analysis of the said indicators of the enterprises engaged in the power industry, it is found that most of them are in a satisfactory financial condition, which confirms the need for solving urgent problems: lack of financing, investment resources, and the need to change management approaches, both at micro and macro levels. The methodology of classification of enterprises based on financial coefficients into three groups is suggested: enterprises with a critical level of financial and economic condition, with satisfactory and adequate level. The research paper deals with the classification of economic problems into external and internal ones. The first category includes the following: high degree of wear of equipment and unsatisfactory condition of facilities of the enterprises engaged in the power sector; lack of innovations and know-how in the industry over the lack of funding, and the problem of attracting investment resources due to the ineffectiveness of the energy sector management system; lack of economic incentives for the development of enterprises of the industry; low economic efficiency of enterprises engaged in the power industry. Internal economic problems are related to the low efficiency of the use of fixed assets; failure to finance activities from own financial resources; the problem of liquidity and solvency of enterprises; inefficient use of equity; low profitability of production assets; low level of reinvestment in the development of enterprises, which leads to insufficient intensity of production and sales activity; lack of equipment update; inefficient distribution of profits; the problem of inefficiency of invested capital and return on assets. These problems, in general, are the cause of high energy intensity of the Ukrainian economy and enterprises of the industry, low level of energy efficiency, low competitiveness of the enterprises engaged in the power industry, causing the need for their restructuring.
