Abstract
The secrets of Ludwik Spitznagel The subject of the article are, acquired by romantic legend, enigmatic fate and death by suicide of Ludwik Spitznagel – „Polish Werter”. Historico-literary investigation caried out herein brings some new findings. They result from the analysis of hitherto known source materials that originated the legend of Spitznagel but the clarification and setting up well-known facts revealed in this article show that the fate of Spitznagel could have had its different run.
