The analysis of information on the archaeology of Tatarstan, on the Tatar and other ethnoses demonstrates its insufficiency in the framework of the Tatar encyclopaedia and, conse-quently, the importance of preparing a new illustrated scientific reference edition "Archaeology of Tatarstan: the encyclopaedia", which is necessary for systematization and accumulation of materials on historical and cultural heritage of the people of East Eurasia. Special attention is paid to the spe-cificity of selection of archaeological materials and scientific methodology of preparation of the branch local lore scientific and reference edition.
