Journal Title: World Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 3

Abstract

Polyphenols are a large class of chemicals found in plants. Polyphenols are abundant consumable micronutrients in our diet, and proof for their role in the prevention of degenerative diseases is fast emerging. Polyphenols include phenolic acids and flavanoids which provide health benefits such as antioxidant, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, analgesic and antipyretic activity. Today’s lifestyles have led to many disorders. This article explores the potential of tea polyphenols as a preventive measure against lifestyle disorders. The use of tea polyphenols as a dietary intake for easy absorption of glucose in the tissue has been well documented. Studies indicate that tea polyphenols can be used to prevent the problem of obesity and type-2 diabetes if used in an appropriate manner and amount.
