Journal Title: Вісник Житомирського державного університету імені Івана Франка - Year 2018, Vol 95, Issue 4
Abstract
The article deals with analysis and systematization of agent and agency problem in the Polish pedagogical science and presents it to our local researches. The agent problem is actual for the Polish pedagogics in theoretical as well as practical aspects. This problem was introduced in the Polish pedagogics in 1980s and since then it has been analyzed and studied in the interdisciplinary approach that combines philosophy, theology, psychology and pedagogics. We are particularly interested in psychological and pedagogical studies and their revelations, because psychologics helps to reveal agent's nature and agency of pedagogical process participants of different educational systems, while pedagogics covers forms, techniques, principles and tools of agency formation and development. In the Polish pedagogical literature teacher's agency is viewed as freedom of his / her actions that appears in self-aiming, decision-taking, activity-conducting and self-progress checking. It is double causal by the outer factors (dependency on social-economic conditions of a state and financial condition of education) and by the inner factors (teacher's qualification, personal factors, abilities, self-identification to teacher's occupation). It is revealed that the students want the teachers to have the following agency manifestations and qualities: spontaneity, kindness, patience, indulgence, comprehension, setting strict demands, professional attitude, good mood, interest in students, fair and impartial student's work assessment, tactfulness in relations, help, attention not only during the lessons, but also after the lessons, cultivation of students' interest, treating every student as a personality not as an anonymous group member, openness in communication with the youth, empathy, methodicalness, dignity, dialogicalness, democracy, discipline and exactingness, pedagogical tact, tolerance etc. It is summarized that some of the main typical Polish pedagogy tendencies on notions "agent" and "agency" referring to teachers and students are the following: agency nature relations, agency as an aim of upbringing, agency as an educational value, agency as an effect of pedagogical activity.
