Teaching Translation into a Foreign Language with Contextual Corpus-Based Dictionaries

Abstract

The article deals with methods of using a new kind of parallel corpora-based contextual translation dictionaries in teaching translation from Ukrainian into English as exemplified by the multilingual dictionary Glosbe. Within the framework of data-driven learning, varieties of training exercises with this dictionary are considered that are designed for teaching how to solve lexical, grammatical and stylistic problems of translation. A conclusion is drawn about a significant teaching and learning potential of such dictionaries.
