TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS ON THE PURCHASE OF A CNC MACHINE TOOL
Journal Title: Proceedings in Manufacturing Systems - Year 2012, Vol 7, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper introduces some aspects to be taken into consideration when a company has to acquire a machine tool. Money is a precious asset and you need to spend it wisely when you have to repair an aging piece of equipment, when you need to remanufacture components within the unit or when it is necessary to replace equipment. The choice of the machine tool type to be purchased depends on a number of factors also related to production requirements, not only to machine price, such as: cost of devices, tools, control devices, machining, cost of the possible training courses, cost of necessary arrangements (foundation, electrical connections, air, water, etc.), possible guarding and fencing of the auxiliary spaces intended. It insists in particular on the purchase of heavy and very heavy duty machine tools from the category of universal and CNC type machine tools. These machines are complex ones, they take a large volume in the industrial spaces and their prices are high, exceeding sometimes the amount of millions of dollars. Taking into account only these latter remarks, a technical and economic study should be made prior to any such acquisition.

TOWARDS PRODUCTION OF MICROFEATURES ON A CUSTOM-MADE STEREOLITOGRAPHIC DLP PRINTER
Stereolithographic digital light processing (DLP) printing is a liquid-based additive manufacturing process, where 3D parts are made by curing a photosensitive polymer kept in vat. In this paper, the in-house DLP printer...
CRACK DEVELOPMENT IN LINER USING CAGINALP PHASE FIELD MODEL
New materials technologies have led to new composite materials solutions to replace existing conventional materials. The respect of the quality and the life span of drilling tools are considerable reduced. The constraint...
PREDICTION OF CUTTING PARAMETERS BY MILLING FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIAL USING NEURAL NETWORK
Paper shows the general characteristics of graded materials, their previous industrial use and potential use of graded materials in the future. In any case, today the use of graded materials is increasing and moving from...
OPTIMIZATION OF THE ROBOT SPACE TRAJECTORY BY USING KINEMATICS, DYNAMICS, INTELLIGENT DAMPER AND PROPER NEURAL NETWORK
In the robotics field one of the more important is the optimization of the space trajectory of the tool center point (TCP) without the undesired frequencies of the vibrations. The paper shows one new optimizing method by...
