TECHNOLOGICAL AND TRIBOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PRECISE MACHINING

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 238, Issue 4

Abstract

This paper is a presentation of chosen issues concerning the optimization of technological quality of machined microproducts. Machining of thin wall aluminum objects (wall thickness below 0,1 mm and a few mm in height) are used as examples. The authors present methods for lowering machining faults by using high speed cutting (HSC), optimization of parameters and machining strategy. For HSC machining a high-speed spindle with a pneumatic drive was used. The authors prove that a proper choice of cutting parameters, when taking into account tribological characteristics, can assure good quality of thin wall objects.
