Telecare as an effective solution in light of increasing demand for longterm care

Abstract

In light of the phenomenon of ageing society and the necessity of pursuing solutions, which assures the longest stay of elderly in the domestic environment, the potential of telecare system is frequently noticed. Implementation of modern technology into health care system ought to be preceded by the analysis of the telecare effectiveness. Therefore, there was prepared a systematic overview of literature regarding the effectiveness of telecare usage in elderly group. To this end, the PubMed and Science Direct database was searched, focusing on reports from 2012 to 2017. On the basis of the criteria of including and excluding, there has been 10 publications qualified to the analysis. This conducted analysis has shown that telecare is a successful solution, especially in terms of improving the effectiveness of care and patients’ functional condition. The fast technological development of a country and actions taken in cooperation with political entity remain a reason to further research about the effectiveness of modern technologies in long-term health care.
