Abstract
The article reveals the problem of forming the communicative activity of students of foreign philology faculties on the basis of personally oriented, activity and competent approaches. In psychological and pedagogical literature, such concepts as "activity", "way of activity", "communicative activity", "communication", "communicative competence", "communicative skills and skills" are used to characterize the educational process in which the formation of communicative activities is carried out. The essence of communicative knowledge, skills and abilities is determined. The need to combine them with the system, to create the optimal conditions for forming the communicative activity of students of higher educational institutions is indicated.
